چکیده
Abstract An inventory of crop wild relatives (CWR) and harvested plants (WHP) occurring in Tunisia, based on the integration last available floristic checklists, is presented. The taxa were prioritised according to economic value related crop, potential for improvement, threat status, endemism, inclusion ITPGRFA (Annex I) average annual contributions dietary energy (kilocalories) per capita day by applying a scoring system 4 priority levels. Of total 2912 belonging Tunisian Flora, 2504 CWR and/or WHP (86% total), from 143 families 686 genera, identified, 2445 which are 847 WHP. In detail, 1654 solely 59 only, whereas 788 both final list active conservation includes 1036 (43% taxa), with 139 rated as high priority, 660 medium 237 low priority. composed 344 eight 254 82 taxa. Our results confirm Tunisia hotspot diversity Mediterranean area. here proposed provides basis development implementation more targeted national CWR/WHP strategy Tunisia.

Enhancing the Conservation of Crop Wild Relatives in England
Humans require resilient, rapidly renewable and sustainable supplies of food and many other plant-derived supplies. However, the combined effects of climate change and population growth compromise the provision of these supplies particularly in respect to global food security. Crop wild relatives (CWR) contain higher genetic diversity than crops and harbour traits that can improve crop resilien...
متن کاملBack into the wild—Apply untapped genetic diversity of wild relatives for crop improvement
Deleterious effects of climate change and human activities, as well as diverse environmental stresses, present critical challenges to food production and the maintenance of natural diversity. These challenges may be met by the development of novel crop varieties with increased biotic or abiotic resistance that enables them to thrive in marginal lands. However, considering the diverse interactio...

A number of attempts have recently been made to identify the wild populations that form the founder germplasm stock of our crop plants (Huen et al. 1997; Molina-Cano et al. 1999; Ladizinsky 1999; Zhou et al. 1999; Badr et al. 2000). Some of these works were based mainly on comparative analyses and statistical treatments of genomic DNA polymorphism data (Huen et al. 1997; Molina-Cano et al. 1999...

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Wild relatives of wheat are one of the most important genetic resources for use in wheat breeding programs. Therefore, identifying wheat wild relatives and Awareness of the diversity in them, also protecting these species is undeniably effective in expanding the richness of the gene pool and the genetic base of new cultivars and can be a good tool ...

Crop-to-wild gene flow have important evolutionary and ecological consequences and require careful consideration in conservation programs for wild genetic resources of potential use in breeding programs and in assessments of the risk of transgene escape into natural ecosystems. Using 26 microsatellites and a set of 1181 trees, we investigated the extent of introgression from the cultivated appl...
